Week 1 “This Cold House” by Elizabeth Gilbert Write about a favorite memory from your life with as much sensory detail as possible.

Week 2 “I Live on the Edge” by Tillena Trebone Write about two worlds that you balance between.

​ Week 3 “My Secret Pepsi Plot” by Boris Fishman Write about an insignificant moment that says something significant about you or your background. -stay in the moment

Week 4 “A Slacker of Jakarta” by Eka Kurniawan Write about a piece of advice that you were given that you may or may not have followed. Include the context and outcome!

Week 5: Assessment Annotated by the Author Students create their own video in Flipgrid, explaining the author choices and moves they made in their favorite piece that they wrote in this unit.

Week 6: Extensions Personal Narrative Contest Students are challenged to enter their favorite piece into the contest Common App Essay Prompts Students explore the Common App prompts Students brainstorm together how to use one of their narratives for their Common App Essay
